About

What is an end-of-life doula?

An end-of-life doula provides emotional, informational, and physical support to the dying and their loved ones. Caregivers often suffer from exhaustion, needing a break to run errands or simply go rest. Doulas can provide that much needed respite as well as provide comfort and support to the dying individual.

In addition to comfort care and caregiver respite, doulas can assist with advance care and vigil plans, funeral/burial/cremation plans, explore life meaning and legacy, plan and perform ceremonies, sit bedside vigil, and provide grief support.

At Comforting Hands, special focus is placed on the "family" as a whole. You are all facing this together. Caregivers may need just as much support, in different ways, than the dying loved one. Comforting Hands offers a helping hand, guidance, comfort care, and sitting vigil through the very end.

ABOUT ME

I'm Amy Nixon, the founder and owner of Comforting Hands End-of-Life Doula Services, LLC. I started down this path four years ago when a family member required constant care at the end of her life. I was fortunate to be able to walk with her through that journey. Although hard, it was a blessing and privilege to support her to the very end. That's when I knew this is what I wanted to do for those in our community.

As an end-of-life doula, I serve to support you and your loved ones as you navigate this difficult process. My focus is on your welfare and your needs. This is often a team effort, and I'm here for you and your loved ones.
